White House: Taliban "Not A Terrorist Group"

by JASmius

Robert Gibbs, Jay Carney, Josh Ernest, Eric "Sergeant" Schultz (He knows NOTHING, NOTHING) - is there any particular reason that every last one of Barack Obama's lead and deputy press secretaries look as if one of their testicles never descended?  Like maybe that is what's necessary to be able to wind them up, send them out, and spout laughable doggerel like this?:

An Obama White House spokesman said Wednesday that the United States may negotiate prisoner swaps with the Taliban because, unlike the Islamic State (ISIS), it is not considered a terrorist organization.

Wanna know someone else who was doubled over with incredulity?  Jonathan Karl of ABCCCP News:

ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl asked deputy press secretary Eric Schultz, a press briefing rookie, whether the Jordanian government's announcement that it would make a deal with ISIS to win freedom for a captured pilot was analogous to the United States trading five Taliban members for Army "Sergeant" Bowe Bergdahl, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

"As you know, this was highly discussed at the time and prisoner swaps are a traditional end-of-conflict interaction that happens," Schultz said. "As the war in Afghanistan wound down, we felt like it was the appropriate thing to do. The president's bedrock commitment as commander in chief is to leave no man or woman behind. That's the principle he was operating under."...

Karl noted that like ISIS, the Taliban continue to carry out terrorist attacks, so "you can't really say the war has ended as far as they're concerned."

Schultz, however, suggested that Karl had overlooked an important distinction.

"I would also point out that the Taliban is an armed insurgency," he stated, the Free Beacon reports, while ISIS "is a terrorist group. So, we don't make concessions to terrorist groups."

"You don't think the Taliban's a terrorist group?" Karl persisted.

"I don't think that the Taliban – the Taliban is an armed insurgency," Schultz replied, sounding somewhat flustered.

And the difference between a terrorist organization and an "armed insurgency" is....?  Beats me, although it's clear to the White House.  Which is to say, "terrorist" treads too semantically close to "jihadist," which is "Islamophobic," and besides, The One has already pronounced that the ISLAMIC State isn't "Islamic," because the ISLAMIC State is a noble "armed insurgency" that represents the "greatest, most peaceful civilization in human history," when it isn't doing "extremist" things like mass murder and religious cleansing via firing squads, crucifixion, and decapitation, and sexually enslaving women, and executing homosexuals, and all the other nasty things that the Left claims to hate and endlessly smears conservative Christians with plotting.  Except that "officially," they don't do any of those nasty things, because they're such a noble "armed insurgency".  And that goes for the Taliban as well.  It's REALLY all the Tea Party, you see.  Really.

Representative Duncan Hunter (R-CA52) called Schultz's lunacy "more nonsense from an administration that seems to have lost its sense of reality."  But you have to remember, Congressman, that Barack Obama considers himself to be a "god," and all "gods" have the power to define "reality".  Which is to say, if his imperial majesty says that the Taliban is "not a terrorist group," then presto-chango, they're not a terrorist group, no matter how many civilians they attack and slaughter.  "Facts" are whatever the dictator says they are, on any given day.  What he declares to be fact today is fact, even if it directly contradicts what he declared yesterday, which never happened.  See how simple that is?  And all We, The People, have to do is blindly believe.  If we press the big yellow button, we'll get a nice banana, too.

I do have to amend one comment above, though: the actual difference between a "terrorist group" and an "armed insurgency" is that the latter is the former when it is conquering a country and defeating the United States in the process.  Which the White House is trying to hide by burying it in a pea-soup-thick fog of laughable doggerel.

But credit where credit is due: The Obama Regime hasn't yet gotten around to declaring that the Iranian mullahgarchy isn't seeking a nuclear arsenal, never was, and it's all a Tea Party-Zionist "consmearacy":

Senior Obama administration officials admit the Iranian regime is continuing nuclear work even as it negotiates with Washington about curbing its suspected weaponization efforts, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

In testimony before the Senate Banking Committee Tuesday, administration officials said Iran is "tinkering" with advanced technologies in an effort to enrich uranium.

Senate Banking Committee Chairman Richard Shelby (R-AL) asked Deputy [Commissar] of State Tony Blinken whether the U.S.-Iran interim agreement signed in November 2013 had significantly halted Iran's pursuit of advanced nuclear knowledge. In his reply, Blinken admitted that Tehran is most likely conducting limited research at some of its nuclear sites.

"You're absolutely right, that there’s no doubt Iran is seeking to continue other [work on] centrifuges," Blinken said, the Free Beacon reports.

Blinken attempted to minimize the significance of Iran's continued nuclear work, asserting that under the agreements with the United States, "it can’t do the critical kind of testing" needed to make great advances.

"Are they tinkering with centrifuges and trying to build them in some places? Almost certainly," Blinken said, the Free Beacon reports.

"That’s a little more than tinkering," Shelby responded skeptically.

Once again, we get the fog of semantics.  The White House attempts to distinguish between "nuclear infrastructure" and is "weaponization," as though the latter can be stopped without also dismantling the former, indeed, as if the two have utterly and absolutely nothing to do with one another.  And this despite the fact that Iran is awash in fossil fuel resources and has no need for a civilian nuclear industry, and that their only conceivable purpose for pursuing nuclear technology is to obtain the ability to cleanse Isreal, Europe, America in atomic fire.

Oh, and did I mention that the mullahs now have confirmed ICBM capability?  Which obviously only has "civilian" applications, since the Obama Regime isn't pretending to try to negotiate that away at all.

You realize, of course, that Commissar Blinken, well, blinked.  He gaffed.  He strayed off the party line reservation.  He was supposed to tell Chairman Shelby that the "Islamic Republic" isn't seeking nuclear weapons, doesn't have a nuclear industry at all, and it's all just a Tea Party-Zionist "consmearacy".  And "Islamophobic," of course.

Really.  It'll be in "Sergeant" Schultz's next "I know NOTHING, NOTHING" press briefing.

Jonathan Karl can't wait.
