NFL Turns Seahawks Into ObamaCare Shills

by JASmius

Ooof.  This is awkward:

Honestly, I've never once stopped to wonder what the politics of Russell Wilson or Richard Sherman are.  I prefer to practice "separation of football and state".  But I suppose, given their "ethnic persuasion" and profession, that the Pro Bowl quarterback and "best corner in the game" are both Obama supporters.  Or they might be completely apolitical, given the unparalleled focus that the Super Bowl champions have on their craft.  Neither has ever disclosed that particular information to my knowledge, so I don't actually know.

But given that the Seattle Seahawks ARE the Super Bowl champions, and that they're two likely wins away from becoming the first repeat Super Bowl champions in over a decade, and that RW3 and Sherm are two of the most prominent faces of the team, and that the NFL is frantic to both garner all the positive publicity it can after losing last year's three-quarter billion dollar concussion class action suit and this season's Ray Rice domestic violence scandal (i.e. those interminable "nomore.org" PSAs) and curry favor with the Regime to avoid a government crackdown on professional football, it doesn't surprise me too awfully much that the league would (1) put out a PSA like this (it isn't the first) and (2) have Russell Wilson and Richard Sherman be the faces of it.

But then, there are already hordes of Seahawk-haters out there.  That's a usual consequence of being the best and not being shy about acknowledging it.  It's hard to see how this PSA will provide many additions to their ranks.

So I'll leave y'all with the irony of two young men, one of whom signed a $56 million contract last offseason, the other of whom will sign a contract this coming offseason that will exceed the GDP off several small Third World countries, urging Americans to sign up for an unconstitutional, despotic scam that has taken away the health insurance of millions, has been and continues to be fueled by flagrant, contemptuous lies since the beginning, has jacked up taxes and continues to destroy and abort jobs, crippled the middle class, and will indenture Millennials and their progeny for generations with its unsustainable costs, in which neither Russell Wilson nor Richard Sherman will ever need to enroll themselves.

The Seattle Seahawks are cool.  ObamaCare is not, and neither is its namesake.  And never should the twain have met.

But like a Kam Chancellor hit, it's not like you couldn't see it coming.
