U.S. Birth Rate Slips To Unsustainable Lows

by JASmius

....and now you know why:

The U.S. birth rate reached an all-time low in 2013, as the number of babies born in the country declined for the sixth straight year since the peak in 2007, a new report finds.

The country’s birth rate dipped to 62.5 births per 1,000 women between ages 15 and 44, according to the report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That is 10% lower than the birth rate in 2007, which was 69.3 per 1,000 women, and a record low since the government started tracking birth rates in 1909, when birth rate was 126.8.

In 2013, there were 3.93 million babies born in the U.S., down less than 1% from 2012, and down 9% from 2007, when a record-breaking 4.32 million babies were born in the U.S. [emphasis added]

Funny how the U.S. birthrate increases when Republicans are in power and decreases when Democrats rule.  It's almost as if couples only want to bring children into the world when they have some measure of hope for the future.

But, as Mark Steyn says, demographics is destiny - as well as self-fulfilling prophecy.  Which, by the by, is what makes illegal immigration so attractive to employers.  If we're not going to replace ourselves, they're going to import those replacements from abroad, by any means necessary, and the feds are going to help them do it.

So how's about we encourage traditional marriage instead of vilifying it, rescind "no-fault divorce" statutes, and encourage family procreation instead of ridiculing it?  I'm not referring to those publicity-stunters who gobble fertility drugs like Reece's pieces and have two dozen kids, but what's wrong with two or three children?  The "nuclear family" is still the most stable and successful basic societal unit ever conceived, which isn't a surprise since it was God Who ordained it.

Or we can continue Lena Dunham's example, tear down what's worked for over five thousand years, and inevitably die as a country and culture.

I was deadly serious above.  If jihadists were greeted by 72 Lena Dunhams upon reaching "Paradise," Islamic Fundamentalists would unconditionally surrender to the West and Israel and renounce Allah in under thirty seconds flat.  Wouldn't you?
