Rand Paul: "War On ISIS Is Illegal"

by JASmius

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) declared the war against ISIS "illegal," stating it must be made valid or end.

Rand still poorly conceals his dad's congenital isolationism behind purported constitutional prerogatives, I see.  Let's see him campaign for re-election to his Senate seat on that platform in 2016, much less a delusional presidential bid.  Somehow I don't think most voters will be too receptive to the idea of a life & death struggle against bloodthirsty jihadists with a pastime for beheading Americans and have openly declared their undisguised intention to kill us all being denounced on theories of constricted Executive war-making authority that even Thomas Jefferson and James Madison themselves didn't recognize vis-a-vie the Barbary Pirates (i.e. the Islamic State of their day).

If Senator Paul wants to pull the plug on any resistance to the blitzkrieg advances and conquests of ISIS, let him publicly try to get the funding plug on it pulled.  That is Congress's constitutional means of disapproving presidential wars it opposes, after all, not making of itself 535 commanders-in-chief.

Funnily, I don't see that much happening, either.
