Islamic State Kills U.K.'s Henning, Says U.S. Hostage Is Next

by JASmius

They've turned decapitation into an assembly line process, haven't they?  Almost like they're planning to add another revenue stream by marketing and selling zombie lawn furniture:

Islamic State militants posted a video showing the beheading of British hostage Alan Henning, according to SITE Intel, which monitors jihadist groups.

Henning was working for a charity delivering aid to Syria when he was seized in the country in December last year. He’s the latest foreign captive to be executed by Islamic State, the jihadist group that has declared a caliphate on territory it seized in Iraq and Syria

Prime Minister David Cameron described Henning’s killing as a “brutal murder” and said it “shows just how barbaric and repulsive these terrorists are,” in an e-mailed statement late yesterday. “We will do all we can to hunt down these murderers and bring them to justice,” he said.

Is it just me, or is Mr. Cameron's vow more than a little boilerplate-ish?  Like the jihadist bloodmisters hack another one, so he's obligated to say something.  The he did so in an email tends to reinforce that impression.

It may also be because Barack Obama has burbled this bluster so many times by now and never once followed through on it, including back in June, when all of these ISIS captives might have actually been rescued had The One not wanted to wait for a better Rose Garden photo-op on July 4th.

I will give the British leader this much - he's joined in the pinpricking, in Iraq, at least.  Hard to see how that constitutes "hunting down these murderers and bringing them to justice," though.  That usually requires "boots on the ground," not boots on the aileron peddle.

Don't start feeling left out, though, my fellow Americans, we're getting the next turn on the chopping block:

Islamic State says in the video that the next hostage to be executed will be Peter Kassig, an American aid worker, Bethesda, Maryland-based SITE Intel said on its Website. The group had warned that it would kill Henning, in a September 13th video that showed the execution of another U.K. citizen, David Haines.

Anybody know how many Western hostages these Muslim berserkers have?  They don't seem to be running out of them thus far.

I find it interesting that it was the ISIS World Beheading Tour that provoked the U.S., and later the French and Brits, into grudging, half-hearted pea-shooting at the jihadists to produce those cool nighttime aircraft carrier vids for the six o'clock news, and now the enemy cites their continuing serial decapitations of our allies and countrymen as retaliation for our retaliation.  It's almost as if they're counting on the American people to be paying sufficiently little attention that the LIVs and NIVs will start anti-war protesting to halt the pinpricks in order to "save American lives" in order to give Barack Obama the excuse he needs to stop pretending to do what he never wanted to do in the first place.

The other thing I've noticed - and please, feel free to correct me if you've observed differently - is that We, The People are getting acclimated to these "Hassan chop!" snuff vids.  James Foley was HEADLINE NEWS; Steve Sotloff made the news; then there was the first Brit, Dave Whatzisname; now it's, "Oh, another head in the basket, whatever, can you pass the yeast infection meds?"  It's evocative of the old saying about one death being a tragedy and a million deaths being a statistic.  It's losing its shock value, in short.

And that leads me to wonder if ISIS is going somewhere with this grisly process.  Somewhere a lot closer to home, on a much larger scale. After all, if making us watch our own people getting their heads sawed off in real time is no longer holding our complete attention, the logical next step is to up the ante....

On the other hand, even 9/11 only held our unified, rapt attention for about six months. So maybe ISIS will just cut to the proverbial chase....

But have no fear, my friends; for even in this horrific circumstance, if Maximum Leader survives - and he will, dog mess like Barack Obama always does - we can count on him striding boldly to the nearest intact podium, vowing to "do all we can to hunt down these murderers and bring them to justice," and reminding us all that this, too, is George W. Bush's fault.

If I know the Islamic State, that's when the second bomb will go off.
