Dershowitz: ISIS Is America's Hamas

by JASmius

Well, now, this is a fascinating observation:

ISIS is America's Hamas and it is hypocritical to condone the United States' actions to defeat the Islamic State (ISIS) while criticizing Israel for doing the same with Hamas, Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz said Friday on Newsmax TV's "America's Forum."

"ISIS is an extremist Islamist organization that doesn't play by the rules, has prepared to behead Americans, smuggle Americans and Europeans into America with evil intentions on their mind," Dershowitz said. "The only difference is, ISIS is much further away from the United States than Hamas is from Israel, but they use the same tactics."

Indeed.  Although what ISIS lacks in terms of greater distance from its declared enemy, they make up for in that enemy being ruled by a treacherous, unworthy fool.

Soon, he predicted, ISIS will adopt Hamas' strategy of using innocent civilians as shields.

"They have captured a lot of hostages, innocent people, and they are going to start embedding their soldiers, their fighters, among these hostages," said Dershowitz. "Instead of beheading Americans, they are going to take Americans, hold them in front of their soldiers and say you can't get at us unless you're prepared to kill innocent civilians, which is exactly what Hamas has been doing for the last ten years."

He means over here, folks, assuming ISIS starts small in its North American offensive as opposed to just nuking American cities off the map.

Barack Obama's remarks about "hunting down terrorists that threaten the U.S. wherever they are" echoes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's same promise.

"Netanyahu has said we will hunt down terrorists wherever we find them," he said. "They've gone after terrorists in Qatar, Europe....

Which illustrates that Bibi actually meant what he said, while Barack Obama manifestly did and does not.

....and the U.S. started with an air campaign to destroy the missiles. Ultimately, Israel had to put boots on the ground because of the terror tunnels. If we had tunnels coming into the U.S. from Mexico or from Canada, there's no doubt we would put boots on the ground to destroy those tunnels on the ground. Why criticize Israel when your own countries are doing it?" [emphasis added]

There is no doubt "we" would not put boots on the ground, Professor.  Anywhere, for any reason, under any circumstances.  Instead, O would have Eric "The Red" Holder indict ISIS for trespassing, or constructing such tunnels without filing an environmental impact statement, or some other damned "lawfare" nonsense.  And you know it.  Although, by the same token, there's also no doubt that O will, in reality, keep kicking the ISIS can down the road until they have constructed cross- "border" tunnels - although they can just as easily adapt and use the ones the Mexican narco-terror gangs have already built.  And with whom ISIS has already linked up, as it happens.  That'll save the Caliphate a lot of time and effort, won't it?

There is no logical way to reconcile the hypocrisy of those who approve of America's posture against ISIS while condemning Israel's with Hamas, Dershowitz said.

Logic has nothing to do with it, Professor.

But if you're looking for a bona fide reason why The One might wage any kind of temporary war against the Islamic State, you've already stumbled over it:

Dershowitz expressed concern that as a lame duck president, Obama may "mortgage the issue of Iran" to get a good short-term solution for the Islamic State.

"Iran may be working with the U.S.," he said. "I sure hope that doesn't diminish our interest in making sure Iran doesn't develop nuclear weapons. If somebody says ISIS may be a five year problem, Iran with a nuclear bomb is an eternal problem."

First off, O is not a "lame duck," he's president-for-life.  Second, if Barack Obama had any interest in denying the mullahs nuclear weapons, he wouldn't have sat back approvingly and allowed them to massacre the Iranian Green Revolution five years ago without uttering so much as a peep of protest.  He wants Tehran to have nukes because we have them, and if we have them, how is it "fair" that our enemies don't?  That's the Obama Doctrine, Professor.  As is the fact that once the necessary "evil" of resuming "war" in Iraq is no longer required, he will bail like a guy paired up with Rosie O'Donnell on an episode of Dating Naked.

All ISIS - those that are still in Syria and Iraq, that is - have to do for now is hunker down and wait for the dog & pony show to pass, and then it's on to Baghdad - and Washington, D.C.
