Days Of Jihadist Future Past

by JASmius

News only to those who refuse to pay attention, and undeniably plausible to all the rest:

A former commando hired by the CIA to defend a U.S. embassy post in Libya told Newsmax TV on Tuesday that he and his team lost critical and potentially life-saving minutes by being ordered to sit idle while the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi was under attack....

"We were there," Geist said of the sequence of events that ended with four Americans killed, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stephens.

Geist was responding to a Democratic congressman who said no evidence exists to support the authors' claim of a stand-down order. According to "13 Hours," the diplomatic annex security team was armed and ready to go less than a mile from where militants were overrunning the post.

"I can't speak for what Washington's doing," said Geist. "Call it a stand-down, call it a wait — the truth of the matter is that there was 20-25 minutes where we were not allowed to go, and had we gone we would've been able to utilize a resource.

"You got six operators that have probably close to 100 years of experience combined in counter-insurgency operations. You have that asset at your availability: Are you going to use it or are you going to hold it back?" [emphasis added]

Yes, they were there.  And that's what matters.  Which makes all the slimier the Democrat jab that they're "lying" because "no evidence exists to support the authors' claim of a stand-down order," as though they themselves had something to do with it, or even worse, that they themselves chose to stand down and let their fellow countrymen in the Benghazi consulate get massacred.  As if Barack Obama himself heroically, in the greatest Harrison Ford-esque tradition....

....ordered them to the rescue of Ambassador Stevens and Messrs. Smith, Doherty, and Woods, and Mr. Geist and his comrades were derelict in their duty.

And as though the charge itself isn't elementarily parseable.  "No evidence exists" simply means that the Obama Regime has long since destroyed "lost" it, like the billions and billions of IRS emails currently floating around randomly in other quantum realities.  Which is beside the point the authors are making: They were there.  They were eyewitnesses.  They were participants in the events that took place on the night of September 11th, 2012, ordered to remain passive and do nothing by their immediate CIA handler.  They're not claiming to know anything more than that, anything about why their handler was given the order to sit still and do nothing, and how far up the chain of command it originated.

Which is precisely they reason they're asking that key, one-word question, the question every American should be asking: Why?  Why were they ordered to stand down and allow jihadists to wipe out four of their countrymen?  Why were they forced to sit still and listen to their plaintive, futile cries for help?:

Geist recalled the night of the attack, which is the subject of a special congressional investigation, as "very tense."

"You have Americans on the radio calling for help . . . You can hear the panic in their voice, and our job is to go help fellow Americans — it's ingrained in us," he said....

"Imagine hearing the desperation of a close friend of a family member over the radio calling for you to come help and you're not able to go out there and you know you have the skill set to come over and help them, to do something, to make a difference.

Imagine, indeed.  Which prompts "why"'s sibling: Who?  Who was ultimately responsible for abandoning four Americans to our enemies to die horrible, humiliating deaths?  And doesn't that matter?

Because the mentality behind that abandonment is precisely what will bring future Benghazis right back to our shores.  And they're already here, and appear to have the drop on our last line of defense:

While there is no specific threat against New York ahead of the Thursday commemoration, the rising power of disparate militant groups around the world presents the most complex terrorism danger since the twin towers were destroyed, New York intelligence officials said this week.

"It is layer upon layer upon layer — not all coming from the same place or ideology," said John Miller, the New York Police Department's deputy commissioner of intelligence and counterterrorism.

That differs from five years ago, when the risk was chiefly from al-Qaeda, Miller said. Now, he said, the threat is also coming from the well-funded, highly sophisticated "mass marketing of terrorism" — affiliate groups, foreign fighters, uprising militants and the idea of "al-Qaeda-ism."

"When you look at the level of sophistication, the amount of slickness applied to their video production, the amount of thought that goes into creating a narrative," he said, "They're doing the same kind of thing as we've seen in commercial publishing or in the ad industry."

Natch.  Jihadists may hate Western modernity, sophistication, and technology with a fiery passion, but that doesn't mean they can't or won't use it for the purpose of its own destruction.  Kinda gives the lie to "al Qaeda's been decimated and is on the run" doesn't it?  Seems to me that a different slogan is a lot more on target:

Barack Obama's pro-jihadist foreign policy is yielding a bumper crop of bin Ladens, isn't it?  All of them bigger, stronger, smarter, more fanatical, more bloodthirsty, and all but guaranteed to run rings around our metaphorical "generals" who, even if they were fighting this war, would be fighting it as if it was the last one.

In short, there is no jihadist "jayvee" squad.  We got purely lucky with the Underwear and Time Square bombers a few years ago.  That luck cannot and will not hold against the weight of the onslaught that's coming at us now.  We are about to reap the whirlwind that 62 million Americans' serial voting idiocy planted.  And whether it's tomorrow, or next Tuesday, or a month from now, or a series of attacks, or the attack has already begun, there will be no escape.

All that remains is to idly gauge the American public's reaction.  That of Maximum Leader is preordained.
