Obama Stretching Scope of Executive Power

By Douglas V. Gibbs

A limited government is the essence of liberty.  A government that acts beyond the authorities granted by the United States Constitution is promoting the opposite of liberty.  A president that ignores the separation of powers, and acts legislatively without the benefit of Congress, making the Congress irrelevant, is an authoritarian leader and a tyrant.

Barack Obama is a hard left ideologue that is taking advantage of two centuries of statist chiseling of constitutional principles.  The curse of leftism has reached its potential, the leftists believe, and is ready to sweep America into a new era of socialism.

While a number of people often tell me they think Obama is an idiot, and is ignorant of the Constitution, I am always quick to disagree.  He is a strong politician accomplishing exactly what he set out to do.  As for the Constitution, he understands it just fine.  He just doesn't like it.  Limited government stands against the big government agenda he has planned for America.

We the People have dropped the ball.  The Founding Fathers were problem solvers that were willing to put on the line their lives, fortunes and sacred honor.  We are complainers, crying that voting hasn't been working, and that our government is full of crooks.  The popularity of Congress has been consistently under 20%, but over 60% of Americans like their own representative.

We brought this upon ourselves.

How many Americans can name just one member of their city council?  How many even know what a city council is?  What day of the week does it meet?  How many times a month?

The cockroaches in Washington came from the States.  The State politicians came from the counties and the cities.  We keep complaining about the cockroaches in Washington, yet we are breeding them in our own cities.

Meanwhile, as we fail to even understand the dynamics of our system, and fail to even care about anything beyond the next thing we are going to watch on television, the politicians, and Obama, are transforming America, putting in play their plan of socialist redistribution of wealth.

How could this happen?

Division.

We are divided along every line one can think of, and Obama has set those groups against each other, stirring folks that are uninformed, and normally not voters, into action.  Nothing like accusations of racism and evil can stir into action a group of people that normally could care less.

Obama, and the democrats, have convinced the uninformed voters, and left leaning voters, that it doesn't matter if his policies are failing, and it doesn't matter that he is authoritarian.  Republicans are evil, and Americans will choose incompetent over evil any day of the week.

The Founding Fathers pledged their lives, fortunes, and Sacred Honor” for the Blessings of Liberty.  We are distracted, and we have fallen for the propaganda.  We have refused to break through the static, and to rise up and make things right.

Anger is a tool that Obama is using, combined with the false cries of racism against the GOP.  As a result, the anger many blacks harbor toward whites because of a history of slavery, is being exploited, and every perceived racial incident is being labeled as racism, bombarding the public with racist acts by whites, according to the Democrats.  Whites are now intimidated, and blacks have been fooled into believing the democrats care about their plight.  What Obama, and the democrats, are doing is beyond political strategy.  It is evil. Race and class warfare has become a tool that they are gladly taking advantage of to help them increase government authority over the people.

Dependency upon the government is on the rise.  The United States now has 90.6 million people who are unemployed, and increase of 10 million under Obama's watch.

With so many people receiving gifts from the federal treasury, the more people depend on handouts, the less likely they are to criticize big government.

While Obama and his minions build the size of government, and the power of the executive, they are also promoting unrestricted abortion and homosexual marriage, against the will of the States, overturning State laws to the contrary, even when there is no constitutional authority for the federal government to even be involved in those local issues.

State sovereignty, and constitutional authorities, are of no concern to this administration.  Their primary directive is the destruction of traditional society, and the rise of a new America under the rule of leftist mandates, through executive orders, if necessary.

This is one of the reasons it is so critical that a Republican willing to take constitutional actions to undo the damage Barack Obama has inflicted is elected into office in 2016.  Ronald Reagan is listed as being one of the historical leaders in issuing executive orders, but his were not to trample on the Constitution by acting without the benefit of Congress, but to undo past executive orders by progressive Presidents like Jimmy Carter, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.  That should be a rallying cry, and campaign mantra, of the next GOP presidential nominee: The promise to use the power of an executive order to undo all damage Obama inflicted using that same presidential tool.

Undoing the laws in place under the hard left regime of Barack Obama, from a constitutional standpoint, will still take Congressional action, repealing those unconstitutional laws, and putting a stop to unconstitutional federal spending in relation to the Obama agenda, and any other spending ventures by the federal government that resides outside the scope of federal authority.  I realize we can't just hit a switch and undo all unconstitutional federal activities, but we have to start somewhere, and we have to stop the madness sometime.  Ultimately, when, and if, we ever eliminate all unconstitutional spending, federal expenditures in total would be about 5% of GDP, which would give us an incredible financial surplus, and render federal income tax completely unnecessary.

It would be nice to say goodbye to the IRS.

It would even be nicer to eventually discard the Federal Reserve, as well.

But first we have to stop the bleeding, replace the cockroaches with constitutional leaders, and get the States involved with controlling a federal government that has been running amok, unchecked, and unrestrained.

The States can audit the federal government.  There is a process for that.  Republic Review.  A convention of delegates from the States.  If it takes three-quarters of the States to approve an amendment to grant authorities, then all it takes is a quarter of the States, plus one, to render a federal action unconstitutional.

The beginning of taking our country back is in motion.
